Crosstown Shootout Watch Party at MadTree

Free apps, Prizes, and all the Crosstown Shootout intensity.

The Crosstown Shootout isn’t just a basketball game; it’s a yearly collision of pride, proximity, and chaos. Since 1927, UC and Xavier have been trading haymakers just 3 miles apart, fighting for bragging rights inside a city small enough that both fan bases can feel each other breathing. UC holds the long-term edge (52–40), while Xavier has owned much of the modern era. Together, they’ve built a rivalry full of buzzer-beaters, scuffles, heartbreak, and moments that we talk about for decades.

And yet, with both programs navigating transitional years lately, the buildup hasn’t been as explosive as it once was. The intensity will be there the moment the ball tips, but the lead-up has lost a bit of its spark. That’s where we come in. The rivalry deserves a stage, and Bearcats fans deserve a place to gather. That’s why UC Young Professionals group and The Den are teaming up to bring the energy back with a Crosstown Shootout Watch Party at MadTree Brewing’s Oakley Taproom.

Event Details

Let’s get started at 6:00 PM on Friday at the MadTree in Oakley. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM. We’re already seeing strong momentum with 50+ registrations, and walk-ins are welcome. Registered attendees will get complimentary appetizers, including chicken tenders with fries, fried pickles, and pizzas.

Be sure to scan the on-site QR code for a chance to win one of two Prize Packs, which will be awarded at halftime and again with about 10 minutes left in the game. Each prize pack is loaded with Bearcat gear and Shootout-themed items, including a limited-edition Crosstown Shootout basketball, Skyline chili, a Homecoming hat, a clear tote bag, a tumbler, a UC pennant, a UC fanny pack, and koozies.

Basketball season is here, and we just launched new Den hoops shirts in the merch store. Limited run, simple and clean design, perfect for Fifth Third Arena.

Tailgate Season Recap

Once we find out the bowl game for Bearcats Football, we’ll come up with a watch party plan and then share a full recap of this past tailgate season. It wasn’t the “record-setting” season we had planned for, but it was successful on many counts. More to come!
